Free energy of QCD at high temperature.

چکیده
Effective-field-theory methods are used to separate the free energy for a nonabelian gauge theory at high temperature T into the contributions from the momentum scales T , gT , and g2T , where g is the coupling constant at the scale 2πT . The effects of the scale T enter through the coefficients in the effective lagrangian for the 3-dimensional effective theory obtained by dimensional reduction. These coefficients can be calculated as power series in g2. The contribution to the free energy from the scale gT can be calculated using perturbative methods in the effective theory. It can be expressed as an expansion in g starting at order g3. The contribution from the scale g2T must be calculated using nonperturbative methods, but nevertheless it can be expanded in powers of g beginning at order g6. We calculate the free energy explicitly to order g5. We also outline the calculations necessary to obtain the free energy to order g6.

The three-loop free energy for high-temperature QED and QCD with fermions
We compute the free energy density for gauge theories, with fermions, at high temperature and zero chemical potential. Specifically, we analytically compute the free energy through O(g4), which requires the evaluation of threeloop diagrams. This computation extends our previous result for pure gauge QCD.

A hierarchy of effective field theories is used to separate the contributions from different momentum scales and to calculate the free energy of QCD at high temperature in powers of the coupling constant up to order g 5. The behavior of the perturbative series will also be discussed.
متن کاملAsymptotic Freedom and Dirichlet String Theory
Fixed angle scattering at high energy in a string theory with boundaries satisfying Dirichlet conditions (Dirichlet strings) inD = 4 is shown to have logarithmic dependence on energy, in addition to the power-like behavior known before. High temperature free energy also depends logarithmically on temperature. Such a result could provide a matching mechanism between strings at long distance and ...
متن کاملStatic quark anti-quark free energy and the running coupling at finite temperature
We analyze the free energy of a static quark anti-quark pair in quenched QCD at short and large distances. From this we deduce running couplings, g(r, T ), and determine the length scale that separates at high temperature the short distance perturbative regime from the large distance nonperturbative regime in the QCD plasma phase. Ambiguities in the definition of a coupling beyond the perturbat...
متن کاملFree energies of heavy quarks in full-QCD lattice simulations with Wilson-type quark action
The free energy between a static quark and an antiquark is studied by using the color-singlet Polyakov-line correlation at finite temperature in lattice QCD with 2+1 flavors of improved Wilson quarks. From the simulations on 323 × 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 lattices in the high temperature phase, based on the fixed scale approach, we find that, the heavy-quark free energies at short distance converge to t...
متن کاملString Free Energy, Hagedorn and Gauge/String Duality
We give examples of modeling the string free energy whose behavior mimics that of QCD: a power-law at high temperature and an exponential decrease at low temperature. Although the effective description is in terms of strings, no limiting temperature exists, as expected for a crossover. PACS: 11.25.Pm; 12.90.+b SPAG-A2/08
